Trips to Duisburg & Munich 2016

Train and play against some of the best Bundesliga academy teams. GFL is already selecting the teams that will play against German academy teams in Germany during the summer and Thanksgiving break of 2016. The GFL Player Experience is a once in a lifetime opportunity for talented players that are selected to go to Germany to play and train with some of the most prestigious soccer academies in the world.  The GFL Player experience provides premium training, games, cultural activities, unique fun, and camaraderie with players from all over the world. 

GFL’s Rudderham Signed by FC Magdeburg

Stephen Rudderham, a Florida player that is part of the GFL program signed with German professional team FC Magdeburg. Here’s Stevie in his first team photo just after starting his first game and playing the entire 90 minutes.  Stevie is seated first from right in the front row. GFL is extremely proud of offering our talented players the same opportunities Stevie had and hope to get more players signed professionally.

Team picture of the GFL 2015 Select Teams at MSV Duisburg Stadium. Over 50 players played for 17 days in Germany in front of scouts from Bundesliga teams.  This year more players were invited by professional teams for tryouts and many selected as players of interest.

This year over 100 players from the GFL Select Teams will train and play in Germany. Our athletes trained at the highest levels in amazing facilities, experiencing the life of a professional soccer player while playing against some of the top German teams in their age groups.

In August 2015 GFL Soccer took a group of talented players aged 10 to 17 to train and play teams from the region. Our group stayed in one of Germany’s most prestigious sports academy the Sportschule Wedau in Duisburg. Our teams played 30 games against teams such as FC Cologne, Rot Weiss Oberhausen, FC Schalke, Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen, MSV Duisburg, Fortuna Duesseldorf, VFL Bochum, Rot Weiss Essen, and Borussia Moenchengladbach. On many of those games  there were Professional Scouts and Agents. The following players were invited for professional team try outs:

· Guillerme Pinheiro (born 2000, IMG) – TSV 1860 München
· Adam Hassan (born 2000, FC Tampa Rangers) – TSV 1860 München
· Jacob Jimenez (born 2002, GPS Ft Myers Knights) – RW Oberhausen & MSV Duisburg
· David Ruiz (born 2002, Plant City FC) – RW Oberhausen
· Nicholas Ogazenov (born 2002, European SC) – TSV 1860 Munich

Stevie Rudderham in 2015, is the first GFL Select Team Player who signed with German 3rd Division side FC Magdeburg , currently living and playing in Germany.

GFL’s ultimate goal is to expose talented US players to the best soccer youth development system in the world and open doors for those players with dreams of playing professionally in the US or abroad.

Our next select team trip will be to Duisburg from July 31st to August 14th, 2016 and to Munich from November 19 to November 28, 2016. Our select teams will play and train in the home of the World Cup champions!

Our teams will play against Bundesliga Youth Academy teams and be seen by top Bundesliga scouts in the country.  Cultural and sports activities are also part of this trip, including watching Bundesliga teams play and meeting professional players, making this a unique experience for all.

Rudderham Starts Game in Germany

Train Hard-Play Hard

Yes we did train very hard in Duisburg.  But the days off, oh boy……did we have fun.  We were able to experience what the city had to offer.  

GFL at Fortuna Dusseldorf Esprit Arena

The group of players, family and staff of GFL’s Duisburg trip were part of the over 50,000 fans that watched an exciting Bundesliga game.  As part of our activities, players get to experience what might be a once in a lifetime top tier game.

Breakfast of Champions

As soon as we got there, the staff at the facility had a hot breakfast buffet to make us feel at home.  The mornings (as well as during the other meals served) were always a great time to get to know all the players not only from our age group, but from the al the GFL teams.

Air Berlin – Here we come!

Over 75 passengers of the Miami to Dusseldorf Air Berlin flight were from the GFl Select Teams, including staff and family members.  The fun started at the Airport with a very organized group of athletes and a lot of fun once we boarded the modern plane.

Another talented player left for Germany the beginning of November to tryout with Bundesliga Div 1 team TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.  Coby Atkinson started his individual training, ability tests and team training Monday, November 10 of 2015.
